Neo-Expression ArtFront Cover (pictures 1&2): Basquiat made his own phrase being Samo, meaning "same old". My version being 'Lameo' translating to the feeling of being unaccepted and useless and the "o" at the end of the word representing a halo, the halo representing power. My logo is a halo.
Third picture: Table of contents Fourth picture: Iconic picture of Basquiat. Fifth Picture: introduction to Basquiat and Neo-expression Sixth Picture: My version of Basquiat's "I know one day I'll turn the corner and I wont be ready for it..." This is one of many Basquiat's iconic writings and we replicated it by adding our own words. Seventh Picture: For this picture we chose any of Basquiat's art pieces and replicated it as best as we could. Eighth Picture: We selected an icon and wrote a small poem related to their work or who they were. Ninth Picture: After selecting an Icon we illustrated a self portrait of that person using Neo-expression or "Basqiat style". Tenth Picture: This is a Recreation of Basquiat's words of observation/realizations in my own words. Eleventh Picture: Not only do I have a page specifically for one of my favorite Basquiat quotes but there are many of them placed int my book. I also borrowed a picture from Basquiat's notebook which was a green humming bird and I used it to give it a deeper meaning to it. In this picture the Humming bird is being held down by "negativity". Twelfth Picture: My version of Basquiat's "Leapsickness" which was a made up word representing .... Basquiat is also known for his made up words. My word is "Gravitivity" meaning negativity pulling down on you like gravity. Thirteenth Picture: My own observations written in Basquiat style. Fourteenth Picture: For this picture we chose a logo and its catch phrase and gave it our own twist. Fifteenth Picture: My Bizarre thoughts written in Basquiat style. Sixteenth Picture: Another one of Basquiat's iconic drawing and quote. |
